2:14. ಆತ್ಮಿಕನಲ್ಲದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯು ದೇವಾರಾತ್ಮನ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವನು ಆ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮೂರ್ಖತನವೆಂದು ಯೋಚಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಅವನು ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮನ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾರನು; ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಆ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ಆತ್ಮಿಕವಾಗಿ ವಿಚಾರಣೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಮಾತ್ರ ಸಾಧ್ಯ.
